HeartSWell South West is a registered charity committed to supporting heart patients, their partners and carers across the Westcountry.

Monica Pearce; without whom the charity would not be in existence today nor would the lodge have been built. She worked tirelessly for HeartSWell South West and dedicated her life to it.

Since 1986, the generosity of the general public, plus the tremendous efforts of volunteers and supporters has raised well over a million pounds. This has enabled us to provide equipment such as defibrillators and TOE probes, funding for a specialist nurse counsellor at Derriford and our largest achievement so far - HeartSWell Lodge

The Lodge is situated a few minutes walk from Derriford Hospital and provides high quality accommodation for families whilst their relatives are receiving hospital treatment. Although the Lodge was originally built for relatives of cardiac patients, we now welcome relatives and friends of any patients at Derriford, The Nuffield or DDRC.

HeartSWell Lodge

HeartSWell Lodge is owned by the charity HeartSWell South West. The prime purpose of the lodge is to provide accommodation for relatives and carers of hospital patients in Plymouth. The Lodge was opened in 2001 and provides bed and breakfast accommodation a short walk away from both Derriford Hospital and Nuffield Hospital, Plymouth.

"The lodge is run by an honorary board of management (Heartswell Lodge Ltd;)  And any operating surplus is donated to the founding charity Heartswell South West to support their future activities".
