Gifts in Wills

Gifts in wills for HeartSWell enable lifesaving equipment for people living in rural communities.  In addition, people coping with cardiac conditions and their families receive day to day support because of generous legacies we have been left.

Every gift, however large or small, makes a difference to heart patients and their families in the South West.

Making a will

Making a will need only take a few minutes.  A simple will need not cost a lot and can easily be changed.

There are three different types of legacy gifts:

  • A share of your estate, or ‘residuary legacy’. This is a percentage of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.
  • A specific sum or ‘pecuniary legacy’
  • A specific item; this could be something valuable such as an antique, painting, property or shares.

If you leave a gift to HeartSWell in your will it will not be included when valuing your estate for Inheritance Tax purposes.  The value of your gift will be deducted from your estate before Inheritance Tax is applied.

To remember HeartSWell South West in your will, you will need the following details:

Address: HeartSWell South West Limited, The Lodge, Blunts Lane, Derriford, Plymouth, PL6 8BE

Reg charity number: 1092779

We recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified legal professional when writing your will.  They will inform you about current inheritance tax thresholds as well as ensuring your will is valid and that your wishes will be followed.
