New Community Defibrillator for Plymouth Hoe

The Liner Lookout Café Raising funds for a defibrillator

The Liner Lookout Café, situated near Smeaton’s Tower on Plymouth Hoe is the latest location in Plymouth to take possession of a new life saving heart defibrillator for the safety of the general public.  The public access defibrillator will be affixed to the café and will enable anyone to use it in an emergency.

A defibrillator is a machine which restarts the heart in the event of a cardiac arrest.  If used correctly, can save lives, especially in busy areas where emergency service response times can be longer.

The Liner Lookout Café’s owner David Morrish approached the charity, Heartswell South West, requesting the equipment and said “With events happening all year round on Plymouth Hoe, it makes sense for  a defibrillator to be available should the unthinkable happen .”

Heartswell Trustee David Wells said: “We are very pleased to be able to donate this piece of equipment to The Liner Lookout Café.  Hopefully it will never be needed but having a defibrillator located in a location as busy as the Hoe is essential and with the right training it can be the saving grace in an emergency situation.”

The Liner Look Café will be raising funds for the defibrillator throughout the summer.

To be able to continue providing this piece of lifesaving equipment, HeartSWell do rely heavily on fundraising activities and donations from the public. To take part in HeartSWell’s up and coming fundraising days, visit; http://www.heartswell.org.uk/ .
